Garden Development.

Garden development uses both, garden consultancy and garden design, as well as vast range of other skills from, Botany and Arboriculture to Garden History and Horticulture.

The layers garden history, have to be uncovered, retaining the best of each period, whilst ensuring they will fit within the future development. During these decisions, it is imperative, to ensure the feel of the garden is never lost. The weight of history can never be replaced.

Every aspect of a garden in assessed, from the under laying garden history to the health of mature trees, and ever thing in between. Once the assessments are complete, making decisions from the simple, is the lawn fit for purpose, to the complex, which mature trees are to be removed, begin.

The process can be simplified into the following; to bring a garden back to life, whilst recognising the history within the site, fitting the garden to the client’s life style, while emphasising good points of under laying history, then using plants to bring the garden together and to link through to the wider landscape. This completes initial journey of development, but the journey is only just started, a garden has to evolve, if development stops, it stagnates then finally dies.
